Musing on skulls...and other crystals
Jun. 19th, 2012 08:10 pmA fried sent me a photo he took of some the papier maché skulls he saw in Venice Beach, CA.
They were cool.
And started me thinking about my collection of skulls - crystal skulls.
And the other crystals - mostly spheres, but other shapes every once in a while.
So I had to go spend some time with them - holding them, dusting them, gazing into them.
I re-discovered some of them, and realized how drawn I am to quartz, and in particular, smokey quartz.
Naturally, I had to put up the duster and get out the camera.
Which doesn't do them justice.
Skulls...
Smokey quartz skull on the light

Zebra jasper and quartz skulls

Zebra jasper sphere

Quartz cluster

Quartz points

Smokey quartz

Smokey quartz cluster - not irradiated

My all time favorite smokey quartz sphere - if I turn it just right, I can see the window inside it, and if I let myself be drawn into the stone - into the space created by that window - there is such peace and well-being...

Smokey quartz sphere

Amber and jet on my private altar - some believe that since they were once living things, they can access the akashic record. I love the way amber and jet beads (strung in the same necklace) feel against my skin.

Flourite (green and purple) obelisk

Selenite spar

My largest spheres are grouped together. For perspective, the largest quartz sphere in the back has a diameter of almost 5 inches. In front of it, right to left are selenite, and obsidian spheres, and the one on the far left is a sphere made of crushed clear quartz that was reheated and molded. (I usually prefer spheres of natural stone, but this one spoke to me, so it came home.)

The journey is good.
And a bunch of the rocks are pretty.
Namaste.

We will re-visit the med thing in mid-July to see if there need to be changes.
Thanks for asking.
